Terms of Service

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. ardlex cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to comply with this security obligation.

You are responsible for all content posted to and activity that occurs under your account, whether done so by you or any third party.

You must be a human to create an account. Accounts registered by automated methods are not permitted.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Service. If you are under 13, please do not register or use the Service.

You may not use the Service if your account has been previously terminated by us for violation of these Terms.

ardlex is an AI-powered English vocabulary learning platform. It helps users memorize English words and phrases through anime-style comic flashcards generated by artificial intelligence.

The Service provides: AI comic flashcard generation, phrase extraction from text or images, translations (meanings, stories, templates, and comic bubbles), card Q&A, vocabulary card management and sharing, custom generation templates, and caption editing tools.

ardlex offers one-time credit packs. List prices are shown in US dollars. At checkout, Dodo Payments may display and charge an equivalent amount in a supported local currency and may add taxes where required. There are no subscriptions or automatic renewals.

Purchases are sold and processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record and are also subject to the buyer terms presented at checkout. Each credit pack is charged once; there is no automatic renewal. Credits are normally added after we receive confirmation of a successful payment, which may take a short time.

You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if none of the credits from that pack have been used. Once any credits from a pack have been used, the purchase is non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. Approved refunds revoke all unused credits associated with the refunded payment. We do not offer automatic, partial, or prorated cash refunds for partially used packs. Refund eligibility and processing also remain subject to Dodo Payments' rules and approval.

If credits fail to be credited, or if you believe you were charged more than once, please contact us within 30 days and include the payment receipt or payment ID. We will investigate and either deliver the missing credits or refund an unintended duplicate charge as appropriate. Please do not initiate a chargeback while a refund request is under review.

Refund timing depends on Dodo Payments and your payment method. We may change the prices or contents of future credit packs at any time; a change does not alter credits you have already purchased or their existing expiry date.

Your right to leave: You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon account deletion, your data will be removed within a reasonable period, and any unused credits will be forfeited.

Our right to terminate: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any current or future use of the Service for any reason at any time. Such termination will result in the forfeiture and deletion of all content associated with your account.

Verbal, physical, written, or other abuse (including threats of abuse or retribution) of any ardlex user or staff member will result in immediate account termination.

ardlex uses third-party AI models to generate stories, translations, image descriptions, and images based on your inputs. You understand and agree that:

• AI generation is inherently non-deterministic; the same input may produce different outputs;
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or quality of generated content;
• Generated content is for reference only and should not be treated as the sole basis for language learning;
• AI providers may be updated or replaced; generation parameters shown in history represent a snapshot of what was used at the time.

Ownership: The words, definitions, and content you input — including flashcards you choose to share publicly — belong to you. We make no claim of ownership over your content.

License to us: By sharing content publicly, you grant ardlex a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it within the platform. You may set any content to private at any time, revoking this license.

Our content: The ardlex brand, interface design, code, and all non-user-generated content are owned by us and protected by copyright and applicable laws.

You represent that content you upload or input does not infringe any third party's rights, and agree to indemnify us against any claims arising therefrom.

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Generate, distribute, or store any unlawful, infringing, pornographic, hateful, or defamatory content;
• Use automated scripts, bots, or other means to circumvent the credit system or abuse AI features;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, databases, or other users' accounts;
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service;
• Use the Service for commercial resale purposes, including bulk reselling of generated content to third parties;
• Use the Service in any manner that may harm its availability or other users' experience.

We will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service available and secure, but we do not make any guarantees about uptime or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances beyond our control.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied;
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages or loss of profits, whether or not foreseeable;
• Our total liability to you shall not exceed the greater of the total fees you actually paid us in the 12 months preceding your claim, or $100.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Revised Terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

Continued use of the Service after the notice period constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service and delete your account before the effective date.
